Equipment List

  • Bring large sack lunch and Dramamine (etc.) for the boat ride over
  • All items must be labeled!
  • Be sure to use plastic bags as noted

The following required equipment should be taken to Emerald Bay.

  1. Wear Troop uniform
    • Troop 223 blue T-shirt
    • Troop 223 Jacket
    • Scout shorts
    • Scout belt
    • White socks
    • Tennis shoes
  2. Sleeping bag
  3. Duffle bag (DO NOT BRING “TOP LOADING” BAGS – two medium sizes bags are better than one large)
  4. Laundry bag (mesh-net)
  5. In 1st Plastic Bag:
    • Bring Scout uniform, Scout socks, neckerchief & slide and Scout shirt -LABEL
    • Extra pair Scout shorts – LABEL (2 pair of Scout shorts total)
    • Extra pair Scout socks – LABEL
  6. In 2nd Plastic Bag:
    • Extra Troop T-shirts – LABEL
    • Six (6) white T-shirts – LABEL (non-“crude” logos OK)
    • Eight (8) underwear – LABEL
  7. In 3rd Plastic Bag:
    • Extra socks – white, 8 pair – LABEL
  8. In 4th Plastic Bag:
    • Pajamas – LABEL
    • Sweat shirt and sweat pants – dark colors – LABEL
    • Swimming trunks (2 pair) – LABEL
  9. In 5th Plastic Bag:
    • Long pants (dark color) – LABEL
  10. One pair extra “old” tennis shoes for boat launching – beach exploring, etc. (THESE ARE REQUIRED – EXPECT TO GET WET!)
  11. “Tivas” – (sandals with heel strap)
  12. Toilet articles
    • Soap, toothbrush and powder or paste, comb, chapstick with 15 sun screen, dry skin cream (moisturizer)
    • Sunscreen (15 or higher) and bandaids
  13. Two large old towels – LABEL
  14. In 6th Plastic Bag:
    • Stationery and envelopes (pre-addressed) with stamps on them
    • Scratch pad and ten (10) small pencils
    • Flashlight and extra batteries
  15. Canteen or a Nalgene water bottle (small) VERY IMPORTANT
  16. Money for treats, snacks, and crafts – $60 in small bills ($1’s and $5’s)
  17. 2 Coat hangers (wire)
  18. Cheap wristwatch

The following optional items are recommended, but optional:

  1. Swim fins, mask and snorkel
  2. Small mirror
  3. Pillow
  4. Camera and film
  5. Wetsuit (spring suit)
  6. Cards
  7. Fishing tackle
  8. Hat with brim

NOTE: The following items are NOT permitted to be taken to EMERALD BAY:

  • CELL PHONE or I-PODS OR ANY ELECTRONICS
  • Thongs, zoris, etc. (without heel strap) ARE PROHIBITED
  • Packframes
  • Hatchets or knives of any kind
  • Fireworks, matches or lighters
  • Suitcases
  • Candy or food
  • Comic books
  • Pets
  • Ammunition, Skin diving spears
  • Sling shots (wrist rockets)
  • Bullwhips
  • Rifles, Air Rifles or BB guns
  • Archery or other “weapons”
