WHAT IS SCOUTING?
Becoming a Scout means joining a community built on adventure, leadership, and values. At Troop 223, Scouts discover who they are and what they can achieve by getting outdoors, building confidence, and living the Scout Code. The program emphasizes leadership, service, outdoor adventure, life skills, and values reinforcement—and always makes room for plenty of fun. These experiences shape character and prepare youth for success in every stage of life.

HOW IT WORKS
Scouting is a step-by-step journey of growth. From the very first campout to advanced leadership roles, Scouts are challenged to set goals, solve problems, and take responsibility. Along the way, they earn ranks, merit badges, and awards that reflect their progress. The pinnacle is the rank of Eagle Scout—a distinction earned by more than 1,000 Troop 223 graduates. Eagle is one of the nation’s most respected achievements: valued by colleges, recognized by employers, and even one of only two civilian honors permitted on a U.S. military uniform.

NEXT STEPS
Joining Troop 223 means becoming part of a welcoming community with a proven path for growth. Families are invited to visit a meeting, meet our leaders, and experience the program firsthand. Scouts are paired with mentors and peers who guide them through challenges and celebrate their successes. Parents also have the opportunity to volunteer, sharing in these precious and finite years with their child while contributing to the troop’s mission.
